Westlake PD arrest three for video poker burgalry, theft

In the early morning hours of March 16, 2010, The Westlake Police Department learned of a possible burglary within the Westlake Quick Stop. Chief Jeremy Cryer advised that through the business check program, confidential information, and the cooperative effort of several Officers within the Westlake Police Department, arrests were made later the same day. Those arrests were for the burglary of and theft from video poker machines belonging to Gene Kile, Inc., located at the Westlake Quick Stop.
On March 16, 2010, The Westlake Police Department booked Michael Keith Winder and Oda Soileau III into the Calcasieu Correction Center on the following charges: Simple Burglary (Felony), Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Felony), Theft over $500 (Felony), and Possession of Stolen Property over $500 (Felony). Further investigation led to the arrest of the manager of the Westlake Quick Stop, Joseph Lee Hagan, on March 18, 2010, for Simple Burglary (Felony), Simple Criminal Damage to Property (Felony), Theft over $500 (Felony), and two counts Criminal Mischief (Misdemeanor) for his role in helping plan the crimes and attempts to mislead investigators through false statements. During the investigation, officers utilized a search warrant, as well as permission from the owners for the voluntary search of various residences and vehicles belonging to the suspects. These searches resulted in the recovery of various tools believed to be used in the commission of the crime and over $2700 in cash believed to have been stolen from the video poker machines.
Other agencies in the Parish have been advised of additional information and potential evidence relating to similar burglaries in the surrounding areas of the Parish. Soileau remains incarcerated on an $8000 bond for his charges and Hagan was released on a $16,000 bond. Winder was released on a $10,000 bond for the his charges and has since been arrested on additional charges stemming from investigations by another agency.
