The Westlake Rams made too many mistakes in their season opener at home on Monday in a 10-0 six-inning loss to the DeQuincy Tigers.

The Rams' starter Johnathon Lamberth pitched well for Westlake (0-1) in the first four innings before reaching his set pitch count. Lamberth allowed only two runs, none of which were earned, with six strikeouts and one hit in the losing effort.

The next three pitchers for the Rams allowed eight runs on two hits in two innings of work.

“Lamberth pitched great,” Westlake head coach Shane Boudreaux said. “We had him on a 70 pitch count and he threw 71 pitches. We got him out of the game and after that just fell apart. We couldn’t throw strikes, couldn’t throw the ball past the infield, and couldn’t make throws when we had to make them.”

Westlake finished the game with five errors on the night.

Caleb Kellogg went 1-for-3 with a triple with an RBI while Tyler Burgess went 1-for-3 with RBI.

Kellogg picked up the win for the Tigers (1-0) pitching five innings allowing two hits while striking out 11 Westlake batters.

Westlake will return to the field on Thursday when they host their tournament.
