“With the National Golf Club of Louisiana Golf course scheduled to open around August 15, 2009, the city is finally experiencing some return on their investment. It has been a true financial challenge to get where we are today,” Mayor Cupit said.

SULPHUR–Half of the Class 3A field returns to Sulphur for the LHSAA Fast Pitch 56 state softball tournament. In light of recent Swine flu reports, West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, along with Sulphur City Officials, are working together to ensure the health and safety of the community.

Two local fire chiefs recently traveled with ten others from Louisiana to attend the Congressional Fire Services Institute and meet with the U.S. Congressional delegation in Washington, D.C.

Westlake Fire Chief Jacques Picou and Carlyss Fire Chief Jude Savoie represented Calcasieu Parish. Besides representing their local departments,  they also represented the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association as Chief Savoie is the immediate Past President and Chief Picou is the District 5 representative.
