The No. 9 East Beauregard Lady Trojans were able to crash the boards in the first half for a 71-31 win over the Vinton Lady Lions on Tuesday in Vinton.
The Lady Trojans (19-4, 8-1) took advantage of offensive rebounds for 12 of their 45 first half points for a 45-16 lead at halftime.
East Beauregard was able to end both quarters of the first half with big runs. The Lady Trojans closed the first period with a 5-0 run, then a 13-0 run to close the second quarter.
The Lady Lions (4-18, 1-9) had a difficult time of mounting an offense to put together runs to climb back into the game. Vinton's best quarter was in the third when they scored 11 points, but couldn't cut into the Lady Trojans' lead.
Carlee Reeves led all scorers with 24 points with Carli Graham (17 pts) and Brooklyn Gill (10 pts) also in double figures.
Senior Melody Smith led Vinton with 11 points and August Joseph added nine points for the Lady Lions.
Smith, Joseph, and Haylee Berry played their last home game as a Lady Lion on Tuesday night.
"They will be missed next year," said Lady Lions' head coach Nikki Soileau on her senior trio. "Whatever they decide to do, they are going to do well."
