After getting two wins in their last three games, the Vinton Lions will be looking to upset the Pickering Red Devils today in Vinton.
The Red Devils (14-13, 4-3) are coming off a road loss to South Beauregard on Tuesday.
Vinton will be looking to avenge a 76-47 loss to Pickering in the second game of District 4-2A play.
"They are tough and athletic," said Vinton head coach Jason Tharp. "They get up and down the floor and run the floor well."
Tharp said that he would like to see more production out of his players on the post. In their win against DeQuincy, Joe Prince, Rory Dobbs, and Michael Pickett combined for 20 points.
"We are looking forward to building off this past week," Tharp said. "It seemed like everything clicked against DeQuincy. If we can get our big guys to step up and run the floor and we play a little defense, we will have a shot."
Doc Roberts leads the Lions in scoring with 17.8ppg in district play. Tyler Loyd and Jarrod Anderson average in double-figures also with 14.6ppg and 13.7ppg respectively.
The Lady Lions will look to rebound off a disappointing loss to DeQuincy on Tuesday, but will take on a tough Pickering Lady Red Devils team.
Pickering (17-7, 5-3) is coming off a 63-39 loss to South Beauregard on Tuesday.
Vinton (4-16, 1-7) is led by Melody Smith's 16.2ppg.
Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the boys' game will follow.
