Louisiana's law enforcement agencies won't be held liable for certain accidents in a funeral procession if Gov. Bobby Jindal agrees to a bill backed by the full Legislature.

The measure by Parks Rep. Fred Mills, a Democrat, would exempt police from liability if a driver "fails to exercise due care" in the procession. That would extend the same liability immunity that funeral homes, their owners and employees already have in existing law.

The bill heads to Jindal's desk with a 28-2 vote of the Senate on Tuesday. The House already had voted 93-3 for the idea.
