PHOENIX, AZ -

Sulphur Tor baseball players Austin Shepherd and Dillon Carroll have traveled to Phoenix this week to play in the US National 16U trials.

Shepherd and Carroll are playing with Golden Triangle Blue Jays from Orange, Tx. along with four others from Southwest Louisiana.

The coach for the Blue Jays is Chris Fackler, an Associate Scout for the Colorado Rockies.

The Blue Jays were seeded No. 57 in the second seeding after going 1-2 in the first three games of pool play.

They began the second round of pool play on Monday against No. 60 Team Anderson and took the win in comeback fashion, 11-6.

They will play today at 4 p.m. (2 p.m. PDT).

The Blue Jays would have to earn a seed within the top 32 to advance to the championship bracket.

If they finish outside the top 32, the Blue Jays will play in the consolation bracket.
