Senior pitcher Allison Callahan came two batters away from a perfect game as she pitched a no-hitter to lead the Sulphur Lady Tors to a 2-0 non-district win on the road over Carencro on Tuesday.
Callahan struck out four batters as she improved her record to 3-5.
The Lady Bears only two base runners came on a walk and a dropped third strike.
Sulphur (6-8) had just two hits but got the job done with a single run in the sixth and seventh innings.
In the top of the sixth inning, Hayleigh Willis reached base with one out on a single down the left field line. Emily Vincent followed with a bloop single to left-center field. The Carencro outfield over ran the ball trying to bare-hand it and allowed Willis to score the go-ahead run.
Jenna Meche led off the top of the seventh with a walk and Hannah Cupit came into pinch run. Nicole Crook laid down a bunt single to advance Cupit all the way to third and a wild pitch during Callahan's at bat allowed Cupit to score.
Vincent finished 1-for-2 at the plate while Willis went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
The Lady Tors will return to district play on Thursday with a 4 p.m. game at Lafayette.
