In the first day of the 2008 Louisiana Long Course State Championships, Swim Louisiana out of Sulphur already has three top-five finishes at the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Aquatic Center on Thursday.

Miranda Weaver had the top finish on the first day for Swim La. taking third in the women’s 15-16 year old 1500-meter freestyle with a time of 18:44.53. Sarah Lorio took fifth with a time of 19.44.82.

Savannah Antonetz took fourth with a time of 19:45.64 in the girls’ 14-and-under 1500m freestyle.

The Long Course State Championships will continue through Sunday. Session times for the remaining three days of the meet are the same. Preliminaries for ages 13-19 will be at 8:30 a.m. and the finals will be at 5p.m. Finals for ages 12-and-under will be at 1 p.m. each day.
