Westlake, La. -

An odd twist of fate will give the Westlake Rams a rare opportunity to win two district games in one day today.

The Rams were already scheduled to play the Church Point Bears today in a District 4-3A game but will also have to finish the second half of the Rams/Bears game from January 19th that had to be stopped early in the third quarter because of a bomb threat at Church Point High school.

The remainder of the game will be played at 4:30 p.m. with 7:21 left in the third quarter and the Bears up 21-17.

Although the Rams were struggling at times in the game, Westlake head coach Doug Morris said it would be like playing a new game.

"It is a new ball game now," Morris said. "Because the other night it didn't even matter how you were playing."

The second game between the Rams and Bears will start at 7:30 p.m.

Both teams are looking for their first district wins with identical 0-5 district records.

"It is a team that we should be able to play," Morris said. "It is not a Crowley or an Iowa where we are totally outmanned.

"They don't have a lot of size like us. We just have to play. We have to play hard and box out and keep them off the boards. If we play like we are supposed to we will end up winning."

Friday night will also be senior night as seven Rams (Gareth McConathy, Zak Cahee, Christian Weber, Dylan Abbott, Donovan Lawrence, Jeremy Ellender, Jesse Bruce and Ricky Irvin) and lone Lady Ram senior Emily Dickerson will be honored between the girls' and boys' varsity games. The girls' varsity game between Westlake and Church Point will start at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Rams are coming off a heartbreaking 37-36 loss to Crowley on Tuesday that all but ended their playoffs hopes.

The loss was especially tough after picking up a 61-59 win over No. 13 Northwest in a game where they looked to be peaking at the right time.

The Lady Bears come in with a 17-14 overall record and a 7-1 District 4-3A record while the Lady Rams are 13-13 and 3-5 in district play.
