The Vinton Lions entered Friday’s District 4-2A game 0-5 and left 0-6 in just three quarters. With Rosepine already up 60-8 after three quarters of play, the game was ended because of poor weather conditions.
Rain fell throughout the game, as the Lions struggled to hold on to the ball losing two of six fumbles.
Rosepine jumped out to a 34-0 lead after the first quarter. The Eagles starting tailback needed just three carries to gain 80 yards and two touchdowns in the first quarter. Robert Davis and Timmy Davis also scored two touchdowns for the Eagles Friday night. Robert Davis finished with 59 yards on five carries and Timmy Davis had three carries for 29 yards.
In all, the Eagles rushed for 289 yards. Quarter back Klint White added 79 yards on five carries and touchdown. He also completed one pass for 19 yards.
Rosepine got a defensive touchdown in the first quarter when Andrew Williams intercepted Vinton’s Joe Prince and returned it 22 yard for the score.
Vinton lone score came in the third quarter on a 20 yard run by Prince and a two-point conversion run by Sammy Smith.
Vinton will travel north to face Pickering on October 16th.
