After a big home win against East Beauregard on Tuesday, the Vinton Lions (4-13, 3-6) will look for their first back-to-back wins of the season on Friday when they travel to take on the Rosepine Eagles.

The No. 16 Eagles (17-8, 7-2) currently sit in second place in District 4-2A and is capable of causing problems for anyone they face.

"It will be a big challenge," said Vinton head coach Jason Tharp on Rosepine. "They can play whatever type of game you want to play. They are a tough team and a tough match-up for us.

"We are looking forward to it. We've been playing pretty good the past couple of weeks and going to try to continue that."

In recent games, Vinton has been competitive because they are playing smarter basketball, which translates into reduced turnovers, better defense, and better play on the boards. Tharp said that the improvement in those areas is going to have to carry over into today's game in Rosepine.

"We've been doing some good things," said Tharp. "We are going to try to continue that. When we played them earlier, we weren't playing smart basketball. I think we are playing a lot better with our heads right now. I think the kids have always had the ability, but I think we are playing a little smarter now and doing some things we have to do to be able to win."

Game time is scheduled for approximately 7:15 p.m. following the Lady Lions' game at 6 p.m. in Rosepine.

The Vinton Lady Lions (4-17, 1-9) have an opportunity to avenge a 22-point home loss to the Rosepine Lady Eagles (3-20, 2-7).

Vinton is coming off a 71-31 loss to No. 9 East Beauregard on Tuesday.
