The Sulphur Lady Tors will resume District 3-5A play when they travel to take on the Lafayette Lady Lions today at 4 p.m.

The Lady Tors (6-8, 1-0) are coming off a 2-0 win on Tuesday over Carencro while Lafayette (16-7, 2-0) has already beaten defending Class 5A runner-up Barbe 1-0 last week.

"It's a big game," said Sulphur head coach Julie Mancuso. "We have to go over there and they are coming off a big game beating Barbe last week. We are going to have to play our best ball to beat them."

Sulphur is coming off a disappointing weekend against excellent pitching, but Mancuso said that the Lady Lions' pitching is different from what they have seen the past few games.

"Their pitcher is a little bit different," stated Mancuso. "We are still going to have to hit them and not leave runners stranded. As far as the pitching we saw this weekend, it's a little different than what we are going to see (today). I don't thing she has as much movement than we saw this weekend.

"Basically we are going to have to execute at the plate and back our pitchers up with some defense."

One of the biggest improvements for Sulphur in the past few games is the declining amount of walks issued by the Lady Tors' pitchers.

"They have seemed to settle down a little bit," Mancuso said. "Hopefully that is the case tomorrow."
