The Louisiana Swashbucklers will start their run in the Southern Indoor Football League playoffs on Monday against the Houma Conquerors at the Lake Charles Civic Center at 6:30 p.m.

The Swashbucklers earned the No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a 10-1 record during the regular season.

The Bucs are coming off a bye week, and will face the team they last beat in the Conquerors by a score of 50-41 on July 3 in Houma.

The Conquerors are coming off a 40-28 win in the final week of the regular season against the No. 3 seed Acadiana Mudbugs. The win against Acadiana secured the final playoff spot for Houma ahead of the Texas Hurricanes.

Louisiana has won all three match ups this season against Houma including a 48-16 win at home in week six and a 41-16 win in week 10 at Houma.

The Bucs will continue to look for offensive production from Marcus Wilridge and Sammy Knight. Wilridge is first in the SIFL in touchdowns with 18 and Knight is tied for third with 14 touchdowns. The Bucs offense also leads the league in scoring offense with and average of 53.5 points per game.

Louisiana also has a stingy defense led by John Paul Jones. Jones has just won his fourth Player of the Quarter award and has posted 17 sacks this season, which is the best in all of indoor football.

Jones has also forced a league most five fumbles this season while recovering four, also a SIFL best.

The Bucs defense led the league in the regular season with 139.1 yards per game while allowing 26.9 points per game.

While having the best offense and defense in the league, the Swashbucklers also boast the best kicker in the game.

Tommy Hebert has an indoor football best 93.3-percent PAT percentage while only missing five point after touchdown attempts. Herbert led the SIFL in scoring in 2009 with 115 points.

What could be even more on the line for Louisiana is there impressive home playoff streak. The Swashbucklers have not lost a playoff game in the Lake Charles Civic Center in the franchise history.

NOTE: The lone loss for Louisiana in the 2009 season came at the hands of the No. 2 seed Austin Turfcats in Austin in week three.

Houma has scored a combined 166 points in their last three games.

The winner of Monday’s game will face the winner of Saturday night’s contest of the Acadiana Mudbugs and the Austin Turfcats in the SIFL championship game.
