Sulphur High junior Scott Jones hit a walk off three-run home run on Saturday in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Tors to a 7-6 win over Hahnville.

BOUTTE — In danger of having to play a decisive third game, junior Scott Jones hit a walk off three-run home run to lift Sulphur to a 7-6 win over Hahnville on Saturday.

Sulphur swept the best-of-three 5A regional playoff series 2-0 and will travel to No. 1 West Monroe in the quarterfinals.

West Monroe swept Ouachita Parish 10-0, 4-1.

It will be a rematch of the 2015 quarterfinals which the Tors won in two games 5-4, 8-4.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Chance Stone reached base on an error by shortstop Waylon LeBlanc and Hadyn Stutes hit a single to center field before Jones hit the first pitch he saw over the left field wall.

Hahnville scored two runs on an error in the second inning and scored three more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead.

Sulphur finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Stutes hit a solo home run and Ben Broussard’s RBI single.

Jake Broussard pitched two innings of relief to earn his second win of the season. He gave up no runs on one hits with one strikeout. Andrew Sheridan started on the mound for the Tors and allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits in five innings.

BOUTTE — Junior Chance Stone earned his second win in as many games on Friday to led the ninth-ranked Sulphur Tors to 5-1 win over Hahnville in the first game of a best-of-three Class 5A regional playoff series.

Stone was starting on just four days rest and struck out seven and walked two in his fourth complete game of the season to improve to 9-4.

Stone was able to get out of trouble twice. In the second inning, he walked the first batter and hit the second but got out of the inning after an interference call and two strikeouts. In the fifth inning, Hahnville’s Cade Miguez hit a two-out double and Hunter LeBlanc’s single before an error loaded the bases. But Stone got Austin Perrin to fly out to end the game.

Sulphur scored all five of its runs in the third inning. Connor Cooke and Jake Broussard led off with back-to-back bunts and Devon Lebrun was walked to load the bases. Stone hit a RBI single, Hadyn Stutes hit a two-run single and Andrew Sheridan finished off the scoring with a two-run double.
