VINTON — The Vinton Lions led 12-6 at halftime, but St. Edmund scored 26 points in the third quarter to win 32-14 Friday night at B.S. Walker Stadium.

Jaden Carrier caught a 13-yard pass from Drew Heinen to tie the game at 6-6 and senior linebacker picked off St. Edmund quarterback Clay Miller and returned it 46-yards for a 12-6 lead in the second quarter.

Miller and Peyton Marcantel had a hand in all four of the Blue Jays third quarter touchdowns. Marcantel scored on a 83-yard run and kicked the extra point for a 13-12 lead and later scored on a 35-yard interception return. Miller scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 25-yard pass to Will Turk for another.

Marcantel finished with 138 yards on 19 carries.

Carrier caught seven passes for 90 yards and Heinen completed 13 of 25 passes for 110 yards.

NEW ROADS — The DeQuincy Tigers started strong, but Catholic-Pointe Coupee scored 38 consecutive points to run away with a 46-22 win Friday night.

DeQuincy took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter after an 8-yard touchdown pass from Gunnar Gearen to Rayden Rosalis and Cooper Hext’s two-point conversion catch.

But Catholic-PC pounded away with its ground game with five different players scoring, including a 57-yard run by Matthew Longlois.

Taije Ceasar led DeQuincy with 13 carries for 82 yards and Hext caught four passes for 93 yards. Gearen completed 7 of 21 passes for 142 yards and was picked off twice.
