RAYNE — The rough start to the 2019 season continued on Friday for the Sulphur Tors.

Defending Division III state champion Notre Dame scored 23 points in the second quarter and cruised to a 46-7 win at Rayne High School.

C.J. Thibodeaux led the way for the Class 2A No. 1 Pios (2-0) with 180 yards on 20 carries and four touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving). He scored two of Notre Dame’s second quarter touchdowns on a run of 4-yards and a 6-yard pass from quarterback Parker Seilhan. Seilhan threw three touchdowns and completed 7 of 10 passes for 75 yards.

Notre Dame extended its consecutive regular season game win streak to 46, dating back to 2014.

Sulphur didn’t score until there was 7:38 left in the game when quarterback Jacob Clark scored on a 71-yard run. He finished with eight carries for 91 yards and completed 4 of 10 passes for 52 yards with an interception. Gavin Elliott caught four passes for 63 yards.

Sulphur (0-2) returns home on Friday to host LaGrange (0-2). The Tors are trying to avoid their first 0-3 start since 2010.
