SULPHUR–After hardly a drop of ran in nearly a month, a torrential downpour halted the first game of a doubleheader between the American Legion Post 179 Drillers and the Post 1 Jaxx-Blue in the bottom of the fifth inning on Monday.

The Sulphur High School Tornado basketball team has put together a solid performance this summer with just one loss at the Oklahoma State University camp and winning the Championship bracket at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette camp.

LAKE CHARLES–Early errors proved costly for the Post 179 Sulphur Drillers in a 6-5 loss to the Post 1 St. Louis Jaxx-Blue on Thursday night at Legion Field.

LAKE CHARLES–Tuesday’s game between Post 179 Drillers and the Post 1 Dodgers was expected to be one of the best  American Legion games of the season. Fans were not disappointed as the Drillers from Sulphur won a 2-0 pitcher’s duel behind a 12 strikeout one-hitter from Ryan Cooper over the Post 1 Dodgers from Grand Lake at the newly renovated Alvin Dark Stadium at Legion Field in Lake Charles.

SULPHUR–With the game tied at 3-3 in the eighth inning and JW Stark at third, Stephan Trosclair came through with a clutch hit to give the Sulphur Cyclones their fifth win in a row with a 4-3 victory over the Iowa Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night.
