Seniors in the area had a blast at the Halloween Bash and Health Fair. Held Friday, Oct. 30, at Sulphur Parks and Recreation, the event began with Continental breakfast. Sam Hewitt and Louisiana Dust from Sulphur set up to get the group tapping their feet. A few danced. Door prizes were presented to the lucky winners and then the costume contest featured about 30 entries. Lou Lewis of Lake Charles gained first dressed as a black eyed pea; second place was won by Pearl Landerman of Iowa, the Pink Panther; and Joseph Picard of Sulphur took third as a fearsome pirate. A health fair was there representing over 20 health services. The event was sponsored by Ronnie Johns Insurance Agency, Humana Hospital, North Sulphur Knights of Columbus Council No. 8978 and SPAR. United Way and Calcasieu Council on Aging worked on the planning. Barbeque lunches were served. Special thanks to Mona Pellerin, Sulphur Senior Center Coordinator; Mayor of Sulphur, Chris Duncan; Dana Keel, representing CITGO who donated light bulbs; Jackie Green, CCOA new director; Angie Herr, program manager; and the Sulphur Fire Department.
