I am a teacher at D. S. Perkins. We will be moving soon to Cypress Cove. I am tired of reading so many negative comments about this move. It is happening. We should be proud of Sulphur. Whether we wanted this move or not it is happening. D. S. Perkins Elementary School is not structurally sound for future use; there is termite damage and other needs that have not and will not be addressed. Remodeling would have been necessary to keep it open. Our student body has declined in the last few years. I was told that if the decline continued D. S. Perkins would have been closed in several years.
In a letter to the editor by Kenneth W. Richardson printed in the September 24th issue of the American Press and the September 26th edition of the Southwest Daily News, I was named in reference to sites reviewed for the new school, Cypress Cove, in Carlyss. Because my name was referenced, along with my company Redd Properties, LLC, I am compelled to set the record straight.
For improving the atmosphere of commencement and for making the ceremony a benefit to the public.
