John "Johnny" Avery McCown, Jr., age 63, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008.
A resident of Sulphur, he was born December 12, 1945, in Lake Charles. A Vietnam veteran, he was a car salesman and loved antique cars and attending car shows. Preceding him in death was his father, John Avery McCown, Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Marilynn McCown of Sulphur; his mother, Virginia Vidrine of Sulphur; one son, Darrin McCown of Sulphur; one daughter, Dana Slaydon of Sulphur; one brother, Alvin McCown of Lake Charles; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008, at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 28, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and again on Monday, December 29, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
