Funeral services for Louise Tisdale Nunnally will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2008 in the chapel of John Kramer and Son with the Rev. Barry Hoekstra officiating. Private interment service will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of John Kramer and Son.
Mrs. Nunnally, 80, of Alexandria, died Saturday August 2, 2008 in her residence.
Mrs. Nunnally was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles F. “Dooley” Nunnally.
Mrs. Nunnally was a native of Monroe and attended Newcomb College and graduated from LSU. She taught fifth grade (“the best grade to teach”) at Cherokee Elementary for six years. She was active in the Alexandria Junior League and was named Sustainer of the Year in 2003. In 1992, she was awarded an honorary membership in the Matinee Music Club. She joined Rapides Savings and Loan, which later became Louisiana Savings and Loan, where she was a savings supervisor, teaching personnel in the Lake Charles area.
She served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria-Pineville Chamber of Commerce and the local chapter of the Red Cross of America. Mrs. Nunnally was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Alexandria and played the piano for the Joymakers, playing at several local nursing homes. In 1973, she was named an Honorary and Life Member of the Central Louisiana Press Club for her many years of devotion to their Gridiron Show.
Mrs. Nunnally is survived her five children, Charles Freeman Nunnally, III of Alexandria, LA, Dent Tisdale Nunnally and his wife, Myra of Sulphur, LA, Louise Nunnally Spence and her husband, David of Alexandria, LA, Richard Lee Nunnally of Alexandria, LA and William Henry Nunnally of Alexandria, LA; one brother, Dr. Alfred Dent Tisdale and his wife, Martha of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Friends are asked to call from 1 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at John Kramer an Son.
