VINTON - Joyce Lyons, 80, died Sunday, August 10, 2008, in a local care center.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton.
Joyce was an active member of First Baptist Church in Vinton where she had previously served as a Sunday School teacher. She had worked for Calcasieu Marine Bank in Vinton for many years and retired from Levingston Ship Building in Orange and Crown-Zellerbach Corporation in Orange.
Survivors include three sisters, Marjorie Hoyt of Morrilton, Arkansas, Martha Melancon of Orange, Texas, and Mary Johnnie and husband Cal of Orangefield, Texas; one brother, Paul Lyons and wife Darleen of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Estelle Lyons; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Leonard Lyons Sr. and Nora Aldredge Lyons; and a brother, Clarence Leonard Lyons, Jr.
Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 15, at First Baptist Church of Vinton. The Revs. Lee Perkins and Dale Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, and from noon until the time of service Friday in the church.
