Audrey Marguerite Spencer, 87, of Lake Charles died Thursday, August 14, 2008 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Spencer was born, raised, educated and married in Gulfport, MS. She has lived 40 years in Lake Charles. After raising her children, she worked many years as a salesperson for Brousse’s Toyland. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer for a number of years at Women and Children’s Hospital was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven.
She will be most remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and for the good meals served at her home.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Regina Spencer Wawak and husband George of Lake Charles; three sons, Raymond C. Spencer and wife Annette of Sulphur, Ronald Spencer of Lake Charles and Tommy Spencer and wife Debbie of Lake City, FL; seven grandchildren, Buffy Mutti of Norwalk, CT, Lance Spencer of Glenwood Springs, CO, Tony Spencer of Middlebrook, GA, Melanie Spencer of Gainesville, FL, Clint Spencer of Lake City, FL, Shannon Dupuis of Lake Charles and Kara Loach of Katy, TX; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Spencer, Sr.; her parents, August and Margarite Engelhardt; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Don Piraro will officiate. Burial will be in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Saturday was from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will continue Sunday from 12 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
