John Kenneth Andersen, 67, of Houston, Texas died August 9, 2008 after battling prostate cancer for two years.
He was born on December 14, 1940 in Orange, Texas and grew up in Sulphur, Louisiana. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1960. Soon after, he moved to Houston with his family to pursue a career as a draftsman at an architecture firm. He continued this work until his retirement in the late 1980s.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Yvonne Andersen; his mother, Lucille Prejean Andersen; and his father, Blewitt Richard Andersen.
John is survived by his daughter, Monica Schmidt and husband, Steve with children Ryan and Stephanie of Houston; and his son, Robert Andersen and wife, Gina with children Andrew and Sydney of Parker (Dallas area). Also he is survived by his brothers, Richard Andersen and wife, Biven of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Wendell Andersen and wife Norcille of Sulphur, Louisiana, Troy Andersen of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Road, Houston, Texas 77036 with Father Wayne Wilkerson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
