Palmire Angelle Richard was born June 26, 1907 in Cecilia, Louisiana to Joseph Clema and Evelline Patin Angelle.
She resided in Krotz Springs, Louisiana and worked at Breaux’s Store before moving to Sulphur in about 1936. She married in 1938 and was a devoted tireless housewife and mother. She guided her family by her example of christian faith and unselfish love. She and her husband cared for those in need and loved them as their own. She had great concern for the poor and hungry of the world. Her sister’s children and family were like their own. She enjoyed raising chickens, planting a large garden and was a wonderful cook.
Jesus, our Savior, was always first. She talked to Him daily and asked forgiveness for any offenses of the day.
She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Daughters Court 1255.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Sonny) Richard, Jr. and wife Patsy; grandson, Michael Richard and wife Lee; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Richard, Taylor, and Mackenzie McGuane; grandson, Mitchell Richard and wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Gavin, and Claralee Richard; daughter, Palmire Sonnier and husband, Will, all of Sulphur; sister, Cecile Felix of Port Neches, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-greats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lighter Richard, Sr.; granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Richard; brothers, Clema (Clay), Demilie (Shun), Abson (Pete), Odon (Bob), and Reverend Ludon Angelle; sisters Ophelia LeBlanc, Razeline Angelle, Sidonie (Lulu) Devillier, Moise Angelle, Amente Angelle, Alsidie (Dee) Solar, Elmire Lacassin, Marie Bergeron Duhon, and Ameleon Angelle.
Her funeral services will be under the direction of Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2009, at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be on Saturday, January 3, 2009, 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church at 1109 Cypress Street, Sulphur, Louisiana. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines Cemetery.
