Norma Rae Smith Isdale, 77, died December 17, 2008 in her residence.
She was born October 27, 1931 in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She was a talented seamstress. Her childhood years were spent in Brookhaven , Mississippi. She had been a longtime resident of Kingsville, Texas , prior to moving to Westlake, Louisiana where she and her husband made their home for the past 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Westlake.
Survivors include her husband, C.G. (Glynn) Isdale; three daughters, Col. Betty McCoy, Retired Reserve and spouse, Col. Mike McCoy, Retired, of Lansing, KS, Lt. Col. Bennie Katilus, Retired Reserve and spouse, Major Joe Katilus, Retired, of Stockton, CA, Glenda Faye Brown and spouse, Sam Brown, of Riviera, TX; five grandchildren, Courtney Mrazek and husband Cody, Colleen Ley and husband Daniel, Samantha Katilus, Tracy McCoy, James Michael McCoy; two great-grandchildren, Chayse Mrazek and Witton Ley; sister-in-law, Barbara Bankens of Westlake; two brothers-in-law, Charles Isdale of College Station, TX and William Isdale and wife, Shelby of Baytown, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie J. and Wessie Mae Smith of Brookhaven , MS ; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vester E. and Katherine Isdale of DeQuincy , LA ; brother-in-law, Johnnie M. Bankens Jr. of Westlake , LA and sister-in-law, Dr. Lucille Brown Isdale of College Station, TX.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, LA. Rev. Rodney Glynn Bankens will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery , under the direction of Hixson-Snider Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday evening.
