C.A.T. Team arrests five for drugs on Interstate 10

At approximately 6 p.m. on October 25, a criminal patrol officer with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) conducted a traffic stop on I-10 eastbound at mile marker 34. During the stop, the officer became suspicious and asked permission to search the car.  A search of the car revealed approximately 120 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.
Sylvinnia S. Moore, 28, 578 Helveston St., and Samantha J. Lewis, 21, 900 Downtowner Blvd., #278, both of Mobile, AL, were travelling from Houston to Mobile.  Both were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of marijuana 100 – 2000 pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Judge Michael Canaday set their bond at $80,000 each.
At approximately 9 p.m. on October 28, a criminal patrol officer with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) conducted a traffic stop on I-10 east bound at mile marker 33. The officer became suspicious and asked to search the car. During the search, the officer located three large bags hidden in the fender of the car which contained 2,016 Hydrocodone pills and 504 Xanax pills.
Johnathan K. Kennerson, 23, 4215 Southcase Ln., Houston, TX, and Camiece M. Groves, 21, 356 Oaknoll Dr., Huffman, TX., were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of Hydrocodone with intent to distribute and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute.  Kennerson was also charged with following too close.  They were travelling to Lafayette with the drugs.
Judge Michael Canaday set Kennerson’s bond at $15,150 and Groves’ at $18,000.
Around midnight on October 29, a criminal patrol officer with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) conducted a traffic stop a car on I-10 west bound at mile marker 8. While conducting the stop the detective became suspicious and asked permission to search the car.  A search of the car revealed 613 Lorcet pills and 46 Somas. John H. LeGros, Jr., 30, 211 W. 5th St . , Roanoke , had 500 of the Lorcet pills wrapped in plastic baggies.  According to LeGros, he was going to Vinton with the drugs.
LeGros was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession of Lorcet with intent to distribute and possession of Somas with intent to distribute.
Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $15,000.
All of the above cars were rental cars.
The CAT Team detectives are in contact with the Houston Police Department; Drug Enforcement Administration; Harris County Sheriff’s Office; Lafayette HIDTA Task Force; and the Mobile HIDTA Task Force regarding these cases.  The investigation is ongoing.
