Suddenlink Communications announced on Friday increased speeds of its existing Internet services, with no change in price, and also launched a new service that is the fastest residential high speed Internet service in Lake Charles and Sulphur.
Suddenlink launched its new High Speed Internet MAX 20.0 service. That service offers a download speed of up to 20 Megabits per second (Mbps). Occasionally, MAX 20.0 customers may notice download speeds faster than 20 Mbps, thanks to a new technology the company will deploy at no extra cost to them.
MAX 20.0 is made possible by Suddenlink’s deployment of cutting-edge industry technology called DOCSIS 3.0. Suddenlink believes it is the only Internet service provider using this technology in its local service area.
Suddenlink also increased speeds of its other Internet services, with no change in price. Services with download speeds up to 1, 8 and 10 Mbps have been increased up to 1.5, 10 and 15 Mbps, respectively, and been renamed accordingly: Suddenlink High Speed Internet 1.5, 10.0 and 15.0.
The faster Internet speeds are the latest steps in the company’s previously announced nationwide capital investment program, calling for approximately $350 million over three years, above and beyond Suddenlink’s traditional capital spending levels. That program already has brought a number of new high definition (HD) TV channels to Lake Charles and Sulphur.
All Suddenlink High Speed Internet services include up to 10 e-mail addresses, access to e-mail via WebMail, personal WebSpace and Spam Blocker. Suddenlink High Speed Internet 15.0 and 10.0 services include a security suite with parental controls, anti-spyware, anti-virus, firewall and pop-up blocker at no additional cost. Technical support services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
More information about local Suddenlink services is available by visiting the company’s Web site (suddenlink.com) and entering a zip code, or by visiting Suddenlink’s customer care centers at 1538 E. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles and at 1626 Ruth St. in Sulphur.
