During the early morning hours of Jan. 17, a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy patrolling in Sulphur observed three individuals, later identified as Larry W. Cain, 30, of Carla Road, Sulphur, Melinda L. Cain, 29, of Pete Seay Circle, Hackberry, and Jeremy P. Broussard, 40, of Ravia Road, Sulphur, at the Anthony Ferry Boat Launch.
According to the CPSO, an investigation by the deputy revealed that the three people were allegedly in the process of manufacturing methamphetamine.
Detectives with the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) arrived and determined the chemicals found were consistent with creation or operation of a clandestine lab. Deputies also reportedly recovered a small amount of meth in Broussard’s wallet.
Miller Environmental was called to dismantle and clean up the meth lab.
All three were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with creation/operation of a clandestine lab. Broussard was also charged with possession of CDS II and possession of marijuana. Larry Cain was also charged with possession of marijuana.
Judge David Ritchie set Larry Cain’s bond at $110,000, Melinda Cain’s bond at $10,500, and Broussard’s bond at $65,500.
CPSO Deputy Jarrod Durflinger was the arresting deputy.
