The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a roving DWI detail on Thursday, July 15, whereby additional patrol deputies were targeting individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
Forty-seven vehicles were checked; 14 field sobriety tests were administered and the following five people were arrested for DWI:
Steven S. Bradley, 23, Lawton Dr., Sulphur
Joshua Daniel, 26, West Oak St ., Lake Charles
Devyn Stark, 17, Dundee St ., Lake Charles
Jonathon J. Eubanks, 28, ½ Plainview Dr ., Lake Charles
Samantha Buncher, 22, LeBleu Rd., Lake Charles
The following citations were issued:
•one for no trailer lights
•two for expired license plate
•one for defective equipment
•one for running a stop sign
•one for tail light out
•two for driving under suspension
•three for illegal window tint
•one for no child restraint
This detail was funded by Project KNOW, a grant awarded to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Juvenile Justice Services. This grant is being used to target underage drinking.
The Calcasieu Full Force DWI Project conducted a DWI checkpoint on Saturday, July 17, in the 6500 block of Hwy. 3059 in LeBleu Settlement to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
One hundred twenty-nine vehicles were checked; three field sobriety tests were administered; and the following person was arrested for DWI:
Alan D. Cookson, 24, Hwy. 383, Iowa
The following citations were issued:
•one for open container
•one modified exhaust
•one for no driver’s license
•one for failure to register vehicle
•one for no child restraint
•two for expired motor vehicle inspections
•one for illegal window tint
•two for no seatbelt
•two for no seatbelt in back seat
Participating in this checkpoint were the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office; Louisiana State Police; Kinder Police Department; Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office; and the Lake Charles Police Department.
This DWI checkpoint was funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
