September 1 is the last day to register or make address changes to your voter registration for the October 2nd election. You can register at the Registrar of Voters Office, Office of Motor Vehicle (while tending to motor vehicle business), Social Service Offices, via the internet at www.geauxvote, or you may obtain a mail-in application at any parish library (which must be postmarked by September 1, 2010).
Early voting for the October 2, 2010 election will be conducted at the following locations and dates for those who would like to vote early or who will be out of the parish on election day.
•Registrar of voters office, Parish Courthouse, 1000 Ryan Street - Room 7, Lake Charles
Saturday, September 18 through Saturday, September 25 (excluding Sunday)
Voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
•Sulphur City Council chambers, 500 N. Huntington Street, Sulphur
Saturday, September 18 through Saturday, September 25 (excluding Sunday)
Voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Items on the ballot include:
•Lieutenant Governor (state-wide)
•Police Jury tax continuation proposition (parish-wide)
•Police Jury sales tax proposition (outside city limits excluding Ward 1)
•Calcasieu Parish School Board members (certain districts)
•Westlake Chief of Police, Mayor, and City Council members (City of Westlake residents only)
•Iowa Chief of Police, Mayor, and City Council members (Town of Iowa residents only)
•DeQuincy City Council members (City of DeQuincy residents only)
•Nibletts Bluff Park Commission proposition renewal
•Sulphur City sales tax renewal (City of Sulphur residents only)
