The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting DWI checkpoints on Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14 at undisclosed locations in the parish. These checkpoints will target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  They have proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted.
These checkpoints are funded by Project KNOW, a grant awarded to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Office of Juvenile Justice Services. This grant is being used to target underage drinking.
