The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a DWI roving detail throughout the parish February 7 through February 16. A roving detail consists of extra deputies, who in addition to regularly-scheduled patrol deputies, patrol the parish strictly looking for impaired drivers driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.  It has proven to be very effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired and people are more likely to designate a driver when they know these details are being done.
This DWI roving detail is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
