A Sulphur man and a DeQuincy man were taken into custody by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office in connection to stolen outdoors equipment.
In October of 2011, deputies were dispatched in reference to an alleged theft on No Name Road in DeQuincy.
When deputies spoke with the victim, he stated that while checking on his hunting lease property, he discovered his 4x8 deer stand with tower and Moultrie game camera, valued at over $1,800, were both missing.
During the investigation, detectives were contacted by several witnesses who stated that they were approached by Trace J. Davis, 17, Rigmaiden Cemetary Rd., in DeQuincy, and Kyle T. Boner, 21, of Louisa Drive in Sulphur, who were trying to sell a deer stand that matched the description of the stand reported stolen.
When questioned by detectives, both confirmed to stealing and selling the stand from the lease. Detectives have located the deer stand and are in the process of recovering it, but the game camera has not been recovered.
Davis and Boner were arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $1,500 and illegal possession of stolen things over $1,500.
Judge David Ritchie set Boner’s bond at $30,000. Davis, who had active warrants for contempt of court, is being held without bond.
