On Thursday, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D arrested 45-year-old Roy Serie of Ville Platte, LA, in connection with a crash that occurred on the afternoon of May 5, 2010. Serie was the driver of a Ford F-150 that crossed the median on U.S. 165 striking another vehicle resulting in the death of two people, Shannon Cox of Lake Charles and Sheila Serie of Ville Platte, and the injury of another, Beth Zilbert of Lake Charles. Three other vehicles were struck by debris during the crash with none of the occupants of those vehicles reportedly injured.
This week, troopers received the toxicology results back from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The results indicated that Serie had illegal narcotics in his system at the time of the crash. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Serie for the following charges: two counts vehicular homicide; one count driving while intoxicated; and one count vehicular negligent injuring.
Serie was taken into custody Thursday without incident and booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail for the warrant.
