Two Calcasieu Parish residents were apprehended Wednesday after alleged involvement in a early morning armed robbery of a convenience store on Nelson Road in Lake Charles.
Wyatt J. Guillory, 18, of Jarib Lane in Lake Charles, and Zachary C. Hebert, 17, of Lane Road in Iowa, were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a brief investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
At 6 a.m. Wednesday, the CPSO responded to a call of an armed robbery of a convenience store in the 6700 block of Nelson Road in Lake Charles. The investigation revealed a man went into the store with a weapon and demanded the clerk give him money from the cash register. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
During further investigation detectives learned the identity of the suspect that entered the store brandishing a shotgun was Guillory. Detectives also learned that Hebert allegedly helped in the planning of the robbery. It was surmised during the investigation that Hebert drove Guillory to the store and also provided the shotgun. The two suspects then divided the stolen money following the crime.
They were later arrested at their residences and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with Armed Robbery and Armed Robbery with a Firearm. Judge Michael Canaday set both bonds at $425,000.
Detectives have recovered a portion of the stolen money along with the firearm believed to be used during the robbery. CPSO Detective Randall Ravia is the lead investigator.
