Massage Parlor

The Red Rose Massage parlor was shut down on Thursday by the Sulphur Police Department after an alleged prostitution ring was uncovered. The business was located on Napoleon Street in Sulphur.

Sulphur Police officers have arrested two people affiliated with Red Rose Massage, at 205 E. Napoleon St. for prostitution and other charges.

According to SPD Chief Lewis Coats, Siqi Li, 47, and Dan Zhang, 45, were both charged Thursday with prostitution by massage, keeping a disorderly place, and criminal conspiracy.

“We received complaints about some inappropriate activity at the massage parlor,” Coats said. “We were told they were doing more than massage.”

Coats said an officer, posing as a customer, called the business to schedule an appointment. “The officer started asking for other services, and the lady who answered the phone was forthcoming,” he said. “She said, ‘whatever you need, we’ll do.’”

On Wednesday, an undercover officer visited the business and requested services. “It was determined through our investigation, and the undercover officer’s visit, that they were basically running a prostitution ring out of that business,” said Coats.

Coats said the SPD also pulled their business license and shut them down, as they obtained a business license under fraudulent means. The description on Red Rose’s business license, which opened on December 20 of 2017, was for “massage only.”
