On July 14, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from Elderly Protection Services in regard to a theft. The investigation revealed Victoria Jennings, 60, Shaw St., Lake Charles, who was taking care of an ill family member, was writing checks to herself from the family member’s account and forging the family member’s signature. Jennings wrote out over $5,400 worth of checks to herself. She did not have power of attorney nor did she have permission to write the checks.
On August 30, Jennings was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $500; exploitation of the infirmed; and forgery.
Judge Michael Canaday set her bond at $25,000.
