On June 14, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding shots being fired at the mobile home park at 415 Avenue D in Lake Charles. When deputies arrived they found Brandon Dicks, 22, 1829 3rd Ave., Lake Charles, had been shot multiple times and on the ground outside. Dicks was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday, August 27, after an extensive investigation and interviewing many witnesses, CPSO detectives arrested Carlos L. Manor, 36, and Diamond F. Jenkins, 25, both of 1802 13th St., Lake Charles, for the murder of Brandon Dicks. They were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and each charged with 2nd degree murder.

Judge Michael Canaday set Manor’s bond at $600,000 and Jenkins’ at $100,000.

In February 1997 Manor was convicted for distribution of cocaine and sentenced to 5 years supervised probation. In 1998 he was convicted of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was subsequently released in 2007.
