The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Vehicle Crimes Unit recently launched an investigation after receiving reports of over 30 vehicle burglaries in the eastern Lake Charles and Iowa areas, including Highway 14 East, PE Daigle Road, McCown Road, and Manchester Road, from December 17 through December 27. The victims reported several items, including electronics, purses, wallets, credit cards, and seven firearms, stolen out of their unlocked vehicles.
The CPSO reports that after further investigation, detectives arrested Darion A. Noble, 17, and Dion D. Noble, 18, both of McCown Road in Iowa, in connection with the vehicle burglaries. On January 10, detectives executed a search warrant at their home and recovered several electronic items that were reported stolen. Detectives also obtained video surveillance from a local store which allegedly captured Darion and Dion Noble using a credit card that was reported stolen from one of the victims’ unlocked vehicles.
Both were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 20 counts of burglary; 20 counts of theft; seven counts theft of firearms; and two counts unauthorized use of access card. Their bonds are still pending.
CPSO Detective Jake Cauvin is the lead investigator on this case. The investigation is continuing with more arrests possible.
As well, CPSO officials state that on January 12, at around 2 a.m., CPSO Vehicle Crimes Unit detectives were dispatched to a house on Prienwood Drive in Lake Charles after receiving a call regarding a possible burglary in progress.
The caller stated that she witnessed two men, later identified as Taylor J. Lee, 18, of Eileen Street, Lake Charles, and a 16 year old juvenile, outside of a house looking into a vehicle parked in a driveway.
Upon arrival, detectives located and apprehended Lee and the juvenile, who were hiding behind a house on Timber Lane. Detectives discovered the juvenile was in possession of a GPS, a wallet and a vehicle key.
According to officials, after further investigation, it was discovered two other victims on Prienwood Drive had reported items, including purses, wallets, and credit cards, stolen out of their unlocked vehicles.
Lee was booked into Calcasieu Correction Center and the juvenile was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. Both are currently on probation for previous burglary and thefts in Calcasieu Parish. Each was charged with simple burglary and theft over $500.
