A Lake Charles man was taken into custody late Saturday afternoon in connection to a homicide in the city, according to Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats.
Blake Poullard, 17, of Lake Charles, was charged with the second degree murder of David Reed III, of Sulphur. SPD officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South Post Oak Road Saturday, November 18, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers determined that Reed had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene. Reed was transported to West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital with a gun shot wound, but succumbed to the injuries.
Witnesses identified Poullard as the shooter. Later in the afternoon, investigators located Poullard at an apartment complex in Sulphur. He was arrested without incident. Two juveniles were also charged with Accessory After the Fact to Second Degree Murder for their part in assisting Poullard or concealing his whereabouts. Additional arrests are expected. Det. Don Briscoe is the lead investigator on the case.
