Four Event Highlights
1. Freedom’s Thunder will be hosting its Second Annual Veterans’ Memorial Banquet Sunday at the West Cal Events Center in Sulphur in order to bring together fellowship of all branches of the military along with local law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel. “Freedom’s Thunder wants to break down barriers and have everyone come together for three things: the Cross, the Flag and Bikers, or Patriots,” said Jim McCartney of Freedom’s Thunder.
2. Special guest at the Veterans Memorial Banquet will be Staff Sgt. Tim Chambers, USMC, also known as “The Saluting Marine.” Chambers is currently undertaking a 16-city tour paying tribute to veterans and patriots and honoring their sacrifices, honor, courage and patriotism.
3. McCartney and Freedom’s Thunder are calling for all bikers to “retrieve the colors” with a rallying point at the Starks VFW, on Hwy. 12 in Starks with a line-up at 11 a.m. An escorted ride will then proceed to the Events Center for the banquet, which begins at 2 p.m. The family-friendly event last until approximately 6 p.m.
4. As part of Chambers’ tour, there will also be a special ceremony Monday, May 6. Chambers will caravan from Sulphur to Jennings to visit the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home there. Led by the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, there will be an escorted ride through Lake Charles and down Interstate-10 to Jennings beginning at 9:15 a.m. Motorcycles will line up at 8:15 a.m.

COST: Price of admission to the banquet is $40 per person or $65 per couple with $250 for a table of eight.
