In April, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office began an investigation in which a house on Bayou Serpent Drive in Lake Charles was broken into after the suspect gained entry through an open garage and kicked in the door that led into the house, causing approximately $300 in damages.
During the investigation, CPSO deputies learned the home was burglarized and a handgun, two flat screen televisions, a laptop, a DVD player, and coins were stolen.
On August 3, the investigation led to the arrest of Zachary L. Simon, 22, 2675 Tuilerie Dr., Lake Charles. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with burglary and theft over $500. The investigation is ongoing with more arrests and charges pending.
