The Sulphur High School tennis team split their match on Thursday against Sam Houston at McMurry Park in Sulphur.
Sulphur split the boys’ singles matches with Sam Houston 4-4 but won the boys’ side sweeping the doubles matches. Sam Houston won the girls’ side of the match. The Lady Broncos won seven of eight girls’ singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
Bhavik Jariwala won the No. 1 singles match 8-4 over Nick Caldera and Kai Ackley picked up his first win of the year taking the No. 2 single 10-8 over Aaron Cain. Trevor Williams improve to 2-0 with an 8-5 win over Brett Chase and Austin Broussard beat Ben Brown in the No. 4 single match 11-9 four tiebreakers.
On the girls’ side, Claire Golbert picked up the only singles win for the Lady Tors beating Gabby Gonzalez 8-3 in the No. 8 singles match.
Sulphur’s Megan Baldassari and Whitney Romero won 8-6 over Katherine Swain and Kaitlyn Manuel in the No. 3 girls’ doubles match.
Sulphur’s next match will be on Monday against St. Louis at McMurry Park at 3:45 p.m.
