Moss Bluff resident Ty Newcomb, 15, won the National Junior Putt-Putt championship in Roanoke, VA on June 19 by a whopping 15 strokes for the 72 hole tournament. This was a bit of revenge for Ty as two years ago, when Ty was 13, he came in second, losing to a 16 year old employee of the Burlington, NC course. The Lake Charles-area team of Ty, Brydon Jacobson, Andrew Barbie, and Brandi Simpson, also got some revenge, winning the team event, after finishing second 2 years ago. Ty also finished 7th in the adult portion of the tournament on June 20.
