Sam Houston crushes Mamou, 8-1 in tourney

The bats came alive late in the game for the Sam Houston Broncos in a 8-1 win on Saturday morning to start off day three of the Bee Line Monogram's Southwest Louisiana Shootout in Moss Bluff.
The Broncos (3-5) struck for six runs in the fourth inning on six hits including five doubles from Travis Mongomery, Garrett Logan, Chase Guillory, Dyllon Johnson, and Evan Powell.
“We kind of came off an emotional win last night against Notre Dame,” said Broncos’ head coach Brad Book. “I don’t think there was much of a sense of urgency early on. But still we are playing hard and we made plays today.”
The Demons' only run came in the sixth inning when Logan Christ led off with a solo homer to left. He went 2-for-2 in the game to lead Mamou.
Justin Chesson picked up the win for the Broncos with five innings pitched allowing no runs on three hits while issuing just three walks.
Johnson went 3-for-3 in the game to lead Sam Houston with two RBI's and a run.
Mamou's starter Grant Vidrine took the loss lasting three innings while allowing five runs on six hits.

Friday's results
Sam Houston 5, Notre Dame 2

MOSS BLUFF–The Sam Houston Broncos picked up their second win of the season on Friday night with a 5-2 win over the Notre Dame Pioneers in the Bee Line Monogram's Southwest Louisiana Shootout in Moss Bluff.
The Broncos (2-5) overcame giving up a run in the first inning with two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. Sam Houston added a run in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth to seal the win.
The Pios were able to add a run in the fifth inning, but couldn't match the hitting power of Sam Houston. The Broncos finished the game with 14 hits while Notre Dame had eight.
Garrett Logan led the Broncos at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort with two RBI's and Dyllon Johnson added a 2-for-3 performance.
Notre Dame's R. Leonards went 3-for-3 for the Pios with a triple.
Cody Ryder picked up the win for Sam Houston on the mound with A. Robichaux taking the loss.
