Moss Bluff, La. -

The Sam Houston Lady Broncos held Iota’s top three scorers to a combined 17 points but could not stop Katelyn Regan as the Lady Bulldogs won 63-47 Wednesday night.

“If you told me that we would have held their top three to 17 points I would have thought we would have won,” Lady Broncos’ head coach Korey Arnold said. “We didn’t rebound the ball very well on the defensive end.”

Iota’s top three players in Allison Baggett, Tori Strodered and Anna Lege scored seven, six and four point respectively but Regan finished with 23 points.

The Lady Broncos (14-6) trailed 34-26 at halftime.

“It was a very reachable able,” Arnold said. “We would get a defensive stop then let them have a second or third chance because we didn’t box out. We let them have too many easy baskets.”

Sam Houston had three players in double figures led by Haley Carrier’s 18 points. Kim Kennedy finished with 18 points and Taylor Landry scored 10 points.

Sam Houston will play four more games before the start of district play starting on Monday with three games in the Sulphur High School Holiday Classic. Arnold thinks that all four are winnable and would put Lady Broncos on solid ground heading into district.

“I think that is were we need to be heading into district because our district is going to be tough,” Arnold said.
