At the Monday meeting of the Sulphur City Council, the Sulphur Armed Forces Committee honored Cpl. Linus J. DeVillier for his service in the United States Army.
DeVillier served from April 1951 to April 1953. Upon completion of his tour of duty he was honorably discharged. He was a Powerman while in the Army. He attended Signal 4 school at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He attended 66th Signal School at Fort Bragg while attached to the 82nd Airborne. During his tour of duty with the 82nd Airborne he assisted in the construction of airstrips for planes.
He also maintained the equipment for the signal corps. Corporal DeVillier was also stationed with the 406th Engineer Brigade where he was assigned to the motor pool. Cpl. DeVillier and his family have resided in this area for 24 years. He has two children. He is currently retired and is a member of the American Legion, St. Theresa Catholic Church, Assembly of God, and the Sulphur Senior Center.
