Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Maplewood held their annual Fourth of July program on Saturday. Boy Scout Pack #182 (Sulphur) members Hunter Golden, Will Golden, and Mason Smith unfurled and raised the American flag to begin proceedings. Calcasieu Chapter DAR member Alice Pippin led everyone with the Pledge of Allegiance, ‘Star Spangled Banner’ and read the preamble to the Constitution. Children were treated to soft drinks, ice cream, watermelon, games and, after little history lesson, fun on the waterslide. Betsy Ross (Yvonne Leasure) and Uncle Sam (Frances Wynn) visited with all the children and taught everyone a little more about American history.
